Amy Seigel Founder and Director NAPGCM Certified
Advocare Founder and Director, Amy Seigel, has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Miami, and over 25 years of experience assisting patients in achieving their optimum level of health and quality of life. Prior to forming Advocare in 2001 she was Director of Patient Services for a major hospital group. She holds national board certifications as a Certified Medical Case Manager (CCM) and Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN). Her background includes geriatric medicine, neurology, stroke recovery, ortho / rehab, and traumatic head & brain injury. Amy serves on the Education and Public Relations Committees for the National and Florida Association of Geriatric Care Managers. She is an active member of The Elder Service Resource Network, Coalition on Aging, Case Management Society of America, and National Association of Rehabilitation Nurses. Amy has served on a national committee for Sacred Aging, and is involved in several organizations that support and promote services for the elderly. Amy is an adjunct lecturer on elder care issues at Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale, and their Institute for Learning in Retirement. Amy is considered an authority on the care management industry. She has served as an advisor on America’s Health Care Crisis Coalition to represent the needs of seniors in national health care policy. She has served as a lecturer on senior issues for Alzheimer’s Association and Hadassah and has led trainings for other Care Managers with the Florida Geriatric Care Management Association. She was recently interviewed and featured on SmartMoney.com.

Marty Seigel, CSA
Advocare’s Director of Operations, Marty Seigel, received his BS in Finance from University of Florida, and his Masters in International Business from University of South Carolina. Marty’s management background includes diverse roles in sales, marketing, and financial management for several large companies in both domestic and international roles. Marty’s career includes progressive management positions with Sony Electronics, and was one of their first sales executives to be certified in the Six Sigma quality program. Marty is a Certified Senior Advisor and long term care insurance specialist. In addition to heading up Advocare’s South Florida Provider Network, he is our in-house technology guru. He is passionate about the mission of Advocare and proud to be making a difference in the lives of Advocare clients.
Marty proudly serves on the Board of Directors of Senior Volunteer Services, an organization dedicated to engaging older adults in volunteer service to meet critical community needs of seniors and children in the South Florida community.

Jay
Our Palm Beach Geriatric Care Manager Jay obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from CUNY with an additional advanced certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Prior to joining Advocare, Jay had over twenty-five years experience as a community health RN and Case Manager at Mount Sinai Medical Center and the Jewish Home and Hospital for the Aged in New York. His experience also includes Mental Health, Med-Surgical, and Long-Term Care, where he has focused on clinical and emotional support to patients and their families. Jay has embraced his role as a private Care Manager with Advocare with great passion and enthusiasm and has earned praise and appreciation from his clients and their families.

Donna
Our Palm Beach Geriatric Care Manager Donna obtained her degree in Nursing from Staten Island University in New York. She is a seasoned Nurse Case Manager with over twenty years of progressive experience. Donna served as a Case Manager and Discharge Planner for Cleveland Clinic Florida. She subsequently worked in multiple inpatient and outpatient settings where she gained significant direct experience in in assessing health care necessities, developing care plans, and finding the appropriate resources and treatments for her clients. Donna is a Board Certified Case Manager (CCM) and a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN). Donna was primary caregiver for her elder mother and father providing additional sensitivity and insight to her role as an advocate for our families.

Donna
Our Palm Beach Geriatric Care Manager Donna hails from New Jersey and California, and has lived South Florida for the past fifteen years. She previously worked as a Registered Nurse at Delray Medical Center, where she worked in all functional areas of the hospital including med-surg, orthopedics, and intensive care. During the past ten years her career has focused on community case management with hospital, Medicare, and private home health patients. Donna is adept at helping families deal with insurance reimbursements and access community resources. She describes herself as a “total patient advocate, with a “tender spot” for seniors being the passion in her life and her reason for joining .

Jennifer
Our Broward County Geriatric Care Manager Jennifer obtained her nursing degree from Humber College in Ontario, and has 15 years of experience as a primary care Registered Nurse in Florida & Canada. Her areas of specialty include geriatrics, gynecology, and discharge planning. Her sincere, personable, and professional manner is appreciated by Advocare clients. Jennifer recently proved her commitment to go above and beyond the call of duty for her clients when she ensured the safety and well being of a senior couple by accompanying them to California in order to attend a family life event. Jennifer is currently working towards her candidacy for certification as a Care Manager Certified (CMC).

Kimberly
Our Broward County Geriatric Care Manager Kimberly is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) with a Master of Science in Nursing from Florida International University. She is a native of south Florida with 17 years’ experience in nursing, which, includes serving as a hospice care coordinator, an emergency room charge nurse and currently, an RN Case Manager and Nurse Practitioner. Kimberly is a loving and faithful person, with a heart for the elderly. She is passionate about nursing and helping others and has been recognized for the contributions she has made in her clinical settings as well as in her community. Kim has earned the discerning credential of Care Manager Certified (CMC).

Heather
Our Broward County Geriatric Care Manager Heather holds a Masters of Science (MS) in Nursing from Rush University in Chicago. Heather’s experience includes several years working as a busy hospital Discharge Planner as well as a Resource Coordinator on an acute care stroke unit. Her sharp nursing skills combined with her detailed knowledge of navigating the medical and care process make Heather a valuable resource to our client families. Heather has a special touch when working with senior clients, applying her working knowledge as an organized and effective Geriatric Care Manager. Heather has especially enjoyed working in Advocare’s unique program to provide Care Management to our US military Veterans.

Gregg
Our Broward Geriatric Care Manager Gregg obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania and has earned the certification as a Case Management Specialist. Gregg is an accomplished social work professional whose career spans over fifteen years assisting seniors in Broward County. He has an extensive network of community resources and is adept in assisting families to navigate the health care options in both acute and custodial care settings. His knowledge spans Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance. Gregg is very adept at determining the psycho-social needs of our clients and implementing adaptive measures. Gregg is our placement specialist, assisting families to make appropriate local and out-of-state transitions in senior living arrangements. Gregg has earned the discerning credential of Care Manager Certified (CMC).

Christina
Our Broward County Geriatric Care Manager Christina has a degree in Nursing from Broward College, and has advanced credentials as a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN). Her nursing experience includes certification as an ER/trauma nurse, cardiology, orthopedics, stroke, and nephrology, and for the past 15 years has focused this experience as a case manager and a geriatric nurse advocate. Christina and Amy worked hand in hand as field case managers many years ago, and today Amy is proud to have Christina as part of her nurse care management team. Christina is completely bilingual in Spanish and English, and loves her work at Advocare, stating, “We know which doctors we would choose for our own family and how we would have them treated – we just do the same for our own clients.”

Ena
Our Aventura, North Miami, & Miami Beach Geriatric Care Manager, Ena, earned her degree in Nursing from University of Florida and Florida International University. She proudly began her nursing career in medical-surgical unit of the same hospital in which she was born, Mt. Sinai Hospital in Miami. As her elderly patients discharged from the hospital, Ena saw the clear need for a professional to follow up their hospital and doctor visits on an ongoing basis and coordinate their medical care, medications, and home care. Inspired by caring for her own elderly grandparents, she is a compassionate advocate for her senior clients, and is very proactive when assessing elder care and safety needs at home. Ena lives on Miami Beach with her husband and two sons. She is completely fluent in Spanish and conversational in Hebrew.

Christina
Our Miami Geriatric Care Manager Christina received her diploma from Washington Hospital Center School of Nursing in Washington, DC, and has advanced credentials as a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN). Prior to joining Advocare, Christina worked as a field nurse case manager coordinating care and assistance for clients under their Long Term Care insurance policies. In addition to her client care skills, she is very aware of the relevant care resources in the community and how to tap them for our clients’ benefit. Christina is completely bilingual in Spanish and English, thanks to her rich life experiences that include a period of living and working in South America.

Debi
Our South Florida Gerontological Specialist, Debi has a Bachelor of Arts in Gerontology and Business Administration, with a concentration in Long Term Care Administration from Kent State University in Ohio. Prior to working with Advocare, Debi served as an Administrator for an assisted living facility in South Florida and prior to that as a licensed nursing home administrator for a skilled nursing facility in Baltimore. Debi assists our senior clients with all of their administrative and organization needs, including insurance reconciliations, bill payments, and review of hospital and provider invoices. Many times Debi works collaboratively with other members of the Advocare team. While a Nurse Care Manager coordinates care, Debi assists clients with coordinating community activities and appointments. Our clients always look forward to Debi’s warm personality and upbeat assistance with managing their administrative affairs.

Penny
Our “Active Aging’ Program Manager Penny spearheads our senior fitness and wellness program. Penny received her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami School of Medicine, and her Bachelor of Science degree from American University in Washington DC. Her experience includes evaluating and determining effective treatment plans to counter the effects of aging. Her work spans the realm of physical, sociological, and psychological aspects of working with clients.
Our Palm Beach Care Manager Sharon has over 20 years experience working in South Florida as a nurse and liason for the geriatric patient. Her experience spans both mind and body, her special areas of study and practice being orthopedics and psych. Sharon’s experience includes working as a Nurse Liaison at Delray Hospital and a Nurse Discharge Planner at Pinecrest Rehab, working with case managers to coordinate care plans to return safely home. She communicated with their families and doctors making recommendations for further care, equipment and community resources. Sharon brings a very personal perspective to her role as a Palm Beach nurse advocate having previously served as a full time caregiver for her mother and aunt. Sharon’s has great compassion and enjoys sharing her client’s experiences and challenges, and believes that by working as a nurse advocate in South Florida, she is doing what she was always meant to do.
